VBS FAQ

  • What is an FAQ section?
An FAQ section can be used to quickly answer common questions about you or your business, such as “Where do you ship to?”, “What are your opening hours?” or “How can I book a service?” It’s a great way to help people navigate your site and can even boost your site’s SEO.
  • What does VBS stand for?
VBS stands for Vacation Bible School, which our church organizes one week every year in the form of Summer camp.
  • What is the purpose of VBS?
The purpose of VBS is to plant seeds in children’s hearts. Each child will go through their own personal and unique journey as Christians. The role of the parents and of the church is to try to build a solid foundation of faith for them. Though we may not see the results right away, we never know when these planted seeds will grow, by the power of God. There are countless testimonies from adults who turn to God (or return to God) during their darkest times, because they suddenly remember a memory verse they had learned at VBS when they were little.
  • Who can attend VBS?
All school-age (grade 1-6) kids can attend, whether they are Christian or not. Students must have completed kindergarten to attend.
  • Why do we need to spend so much energy promoting VBS?
VBS is our church’s number one outreach event for children because it is just so much fun. We encourage parents to register their children, hoping that we can take this opportunity to introduce them to God.
  • My kids already come to church and attend Sunday school. I don’t think VBS is necessary?
Christians are encouraged to spend time with God every day so we can never allocate too much time to learn His Word. The Bible is full of God’s wisdom and even a lifetime of studying would not be sufficient. What a privilege it is for a child to spend a whole week in God’s presence! Moreover, the concept of VBS is very different than that of Sunday school. Instead of one or two hours of studying God’s word, VBS is 5 full days of in-depth learning. Each year, a different theme is used to focus and reinforce specific areas of biblical knowledge. Kids will learn more about the characters of God and about His word in a fun and interactive manner.
  • Why you are only taking school-aged kids this year?
As we have moved out of our old church building, we are unfortunately not able to offer a preschool program for kids that has not yet completed kindergarten . The building that we are currently renting does not have enough space for us to create an environment for the preschool program. Praying that we are able to re-offer it in the future years!
  • What kind of activities will my child take part in?
Storytelling, arts & crafts, games, an exciting outing, snacks and much more!
  • I would love to register my child, but it is too expensive.
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to know God. A subsidy program is available for those who wish to put their kids in our VBS. Please contact us at vbs@mtlcpc.org
  • Who takes part in VBS?
We have a committee that runs the VBS program. Our church members and teenagers also volunteer during the VBS week. As per the Presbyterian Churches of Canada requires all volunteers must go through a police check every 2 years to ensure the safety of our campers.
  • How can I become a helper?
We invite all of those who would like to be a helper at VBS to take part in our various church activities and to get to know our members. All our helpers also need to do a police check as required by the Presbyterian Churches of Canada. Please contact us if you are interested at vbs@mtlcpc.org
