Family Pastor

The Montreal Chinese Presbyterian Church (www.mtlcpc.org) is a multi-cultural and multi-generational congregation with a core base of mostly English-speaking young families who are actively engaged in the ministries of the church. We are in search of a family pastor to nourish
these families spiritually in our English ministry.

FULL TIME / PART-TIME

Responsibilities

Teaching and discipleship
  • Develop and oversee Sunday School, youth fellowships

  • Equipping parents to be spiritual leaders at home

Counselling and support at a level appropriate to
previous training or experience
  • Pastoral counselling to families, couples, parents on issues such as marriage,
    parenting, grief and crisis management

  • Support families through major life events (e.g. births, baptisms, dedications, weddings,
    funerals)

Event and program leadership
  • plan family focused events such as parenting workshops, family or youth retreats, service projects

Qualifications

  • A person of faith, prayer, vision, and integrity who maintains a close relationship with God

  • Strong biblical knowledge
     

  • 2 years or more of ministry experience

  • Seminary or other training (e.g. childhood education, counselling) an asset
     

  • A willingness to come under leadership and to lead with humility

  • A team player who functions well within group leadership

  • Adaptive capacity and comfortable with change
     

  • Good understanding of North American culture

  • Fluent in English; ability to speak French or Chinese an asset

  • Background check required prior to employment
